Kofi Adu alias “Odi Sika” A 30 year old drinking bar operator who allegedly sold toffees suspected to be laced with cannabis, a narcotic drug, has been arrested and kept in custody by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi. “Odi Sika” who operates a drinking pub at Ahinsan in Kumasi was arrested by the police on September 29, 2015. Upon tip-off, personnel from the unit caught him red-handed in the act of moulding the toffees in his bar. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Osei Ampofo Duku, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told the press in a briefing that 188 balls of the candy suspected to be laced with cannabis were ready for sale to interested customers. In his caution statement Adu admitted the offence and is being processed for court.
In a separate development, the Command has also arrested one Ofori Asiedu, for possessing fire arms without lawful authority. He was uncovered through a search conducted by the Regional Highway Patrol Team on the Konongo-Agogo stretch of the Kumasi-Accra road. ACP Ampofo Duku said on October 4, 2015, the team intercepted a Nissan Urvan bus with registration number AW 2041-14 and during a search on the passengers, a locally-made pistol and one live catridge was found on Asiedu. He was arrested and admitted the offence in his caution statement.
