Coup in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou – Members of Burkina Faso’s Presidential Guard on Thursday announced the dissolution of the government on national television, saying President Michel Kafando had been ousted. A military official said on state-run media in Ouagadougou that they had put in place a national democracy council charged with organising democratic and inclusive elections.
The presidential guard was believed to be dissatisfied with plans to dissolve it and to integrate it into the military police. Burkina-Faso-President-and-Prime-Minister The soldiers reportedly belong to the Presidential Security Regiment on Wednesday interrupted a cabinet meeting in Burkina Faso detaining Kafando, Prime Minister Isaac Zida, and arrested several ministers. The Police Cannot Be Blamed; The Protesters Deserved To Be Whipped - MP

Theophilus Tetteh Chaie,
Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, is blaming the leadership of pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance for the violence that characterized its protest demanding a new voters register. According to him, the leaders provoked the police to apply maximum force after the protesters tried to use unapproved routes to present
their petition to the Electoral Commission . Riot police fired tear gas and water cannon to force back protesters who had massed up close to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to picket at the EC.
In attempts to cow them into submission the police beat protesters with horse whips . Most of the leaders were arrested and others sustained various degrees of injuries. The Police after the incident has been blamed for the attack on unarmed civilians exercising their human rights. But Tetteh Chaie on Asempa FM Wednesday maintained that, the police cannot be blamed. In his view, the leadership should have policed their protesters to ensure they stick to the routes approved by the police. The Ablekuma Central MP stated that some of the protesters deliberately took unapproved routs just to trigger violence. “Some people deliberately provoke the police to beat them up so they leadership should take the full blame” he stressed. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie admonished leaders of pressure groups to supervise their members to adhere to laid down procedures before embarking on another demonstration. On the contrary, New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Akyem Swedru expressed disgust at the conduct of the police. The MP who escaped the attack by a whisker said the police have proven that the citizenry cannot rely on them for protection. “We have learnt our lesson in a bitter way so we will prepare adequately on our next demonstration” he added. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu said if the police decides to throw democracy to the dogs and obey government then “we will make their work very difficult for them”. Source: adomonline.com

Have You Eaten Any Of These Cancer Causing Foods Today ?

Processed Foods
Have you eaten any of these cancer causing foods today? Take a reflection and read more.
Cancer is one of those diseases that loom over a good majority of the population. It can be avoided, but there are circumstances beyond our control that sometimes force our hand. However, there are some foods that the normal person may eat on a daily basis that could increase the chances of acquiring cancer through the chemicals and process that ensures we can eat these types of goods. Unfortunately, most people don’t really pay attention to what goes into the items they consume, which is an unhealthy process. Avoiding these foods altogether, or even limiting your intake of them, can help reduce your chances of contracting cancer.
Soda, much like processed meats and the other food items on this list, cause cancer when drinking in excess. The liquid within those colorful cans tends to be loaded with sugar, food chemicals, and coloring, which all help to acidify the body and feed the growth of cancer cells. Common soda chemicals, such as caramel coloring and its derivative 4-methylimidazole, have both been linked to causing cancer within someone. Again, drinking soda in moderation can be helpful to reduce the risk of contracting cancer through the chemicals
within the drink. However, drinking more than one per day is quite bad for you. Cutting the use of soda out altogether could be the best option you have for leading a healthier, cancer-free lifestyle. Unfortunately, there are so many other food items out there that can feed cancer growth that it is hard to count on dropping one item to really help. It’s a start, though. It is hard to obtain the same level of quality and nostalgia that grabbing a bucket of popcorn at the latest movie to release can incur within someone. However, the option to purchase microwave popcorn in

Asantehene Leads Crusade for a Credible Voter Register in Ghana

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II - Asantehene
“I know how concerned our friends in the international community are about the sustenance of democracy through elections that are credible; and I have no doubt they will find it of greater value to help fund a more credible process that delivers a fair and just result than to pay for the unpredictable consequences of flawed elections. So we should ask ourselves now: Is our electoral register tainted? If it is, how best can we clean it to give the register credibility? If we are seeking the ultimate fairness, we must seek first the ultimate credibility,” said Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the annual Ghana Bar Association (GBA) conference in Kumasi.

Great Discovery, A 2,700 Year Old City Found Under A Basement

Imagine your home was harboring a secret. Whilst it looked normal and harmless enough from the outside, behind the walls, something completely different was going on. Let’s say one day, you had to do a little remodeling work in the basement. When you were chipping away at the plaster, you noticed a hole behind the wall. You pushed through a little further and discovered that the hole is an entire room. You kept going on and on, picking your way through and pretty soon, you discovered an entire city beneath your house. Believe it or not, this is actually true. In 1963, a Turkish man was redoing his house and was stunned to discover an entire city beneath the foundations of his basement. The city, known as Derinkuyu, was believed to be built in the 7th or 8th centuries BC. Whilst this might sound a little too good to be true, these pictures speak a thousand words.

NEW HUMAN RELATIVE

March 2015 photo from National Geographic
MAGALIESBURG, South Africa (AP) — Scientists say they've discovered a new member of the human family tree, revealed by a huge trove of bones in a barely accessible, pitch-dark chamber of a cave in South Africa.
The creature shows a surprising mix of human-like and more primitive characteristics — some experts called it "bizarre" and "weird." And the discovery presents some key mysteries: How old are the bones?
The bones were found in 2013 by a spelunker, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Johannesburg.
The find was made in the Rising Star cave system. The creature, which evidently walked upright, represents a mix of traits. For example, the hands and feet look like Homo, but the shoulders and the small brain recall Homo's more ape-like ancestors, the researchers said.
Besides the age of the bones, another mystery is how they got into the difficult-to-reach area of the cave. The researchers said they suspect the naledi may have repeatedly deposited their dead in the room, but alternatively it may have been a death trap for individuals that found their own way in.
