Cape Coast: NDC CANDIDATE COLLAPSES AFTER LOSING UCC/SRC PRESIDENTIAL RACE.

NDC-UCC candidate popularly known as SOSI lost the UCC-SRC Presidential contest irrespective of NDC sponsoring his fruitless campaign with juicy Gh¢ 300,000.
Much to his surprise, SOSI collapsed immediately after the results were declared.

The Ablekuma West primary has ended and incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has emerged the winner of Saturday’s primary to contest for the party in the upcoming polls. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful polled 554 Votes while her only contender, Roni Nicole secured 317 votes with 5 rejected ballots.

He frequents these point of sales not to smoke but to purchase the banned substance for his dad who is said to be an addict of the illicit drug.

At a time when his age-mates were in the classroom, he was spotted going to buy the herb and matches for his father who was waiting comfortably for him with his girlfriend, baby.

 “My father sent me to buy the matches…he is going to light it to smoke wee…,” he told the TV3 reporter.

 He is not the only victim of abuse as his two-year old brother, Kojo who always eases on himself due to  lack of toilet facility.

About a third of Kenyans do not know their woman representative in the National Assembly, a new survey has shown. A recent report by the Society for International Development (SID) established that at least three out of ten Kenyans may not recognise their woman MP if they bumped into her on the streets of their local town or city.

Ken Agyapong threatens to publish names of ‘corrupt’ chiefs

Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has sent a strong warning to the chiefs of Assin Fosu in the Central region to desist from providing Immigration School admission forms to unqualified people.

 He alleged that, some chiefs in the town are using their positions to take monies from people outside the town and issuing them protocol letters to enable them gain admission to the school instead of giving the opportunity to the indigenes.

Kennedy Agyapong made this known at one of his “MEET YOUR MP TOUR”, when the youth quizzed him about their inability to gain admission to the Assin Fosu Immigration Training School when in fact, it is situated on their land.

 The outspoken MP noted that, though some of the chiefs are said to have contributed immensely to the building of the school, their conduct is "illegal".

 He stressed that, most of the youth in the town are highly qualified but are still home because they don't have money to pay the chiefs for the protocol letters. The Assin Central MP said, he will be left with no other option than to publish the names of the chiefs engaging in such acts in the media if the situation persist.

Ghanaian-ISIS Recruit arrested for Prosecution

One of the several youth who announced their decision to join the terrorist group, Islamic State, is facing prosecution. Eliasu Alhassan was arrested upon his return to Ghana recently and has been detained by national security operatives.

The national security has been on high alert after declaring that Ghana was vulnerable to terrorist attacks in the wake of attacks on neighboring countries.

 Last month news broke that one of the Ghanaian ISIS recruits, Mohammed Nazir Nortei Alema, had died. Documents available  suggest that the returnee-recruit is a former student of the St. Augustines Senior High School and currently a final year medical student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The case has been adjourned to May 17.

Assin Chiefs warns politicians not to campaign in their area

Chiefs in Assin, Twifu and Denkyira, Abuakwa of the Central Region have warned the ruling government and opposition parties to desist from campaigning in the area ahead of November general elections. Blind Husband Files for Divorce Against His Black Wife

A blind man has filed for divorce after claiming that his wife of 32 years hid her identity from him. The man has gone to court after learning that his wife is African-American. He filed his divorce suit at Travis County Courthouse. It was gathered that the 59-year old John Paul Davis accused his wife, 56-year old Latoyah Johnson, of taking advantage of his handicap to “dishonestly and fraudulently make him believe that she was Caucasian”.

Accra: Church of Pentecost caretaker arrested for threatening to kill pastors

A 31-year-old man is in the grip of the police for threatening to kill seven executive members of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) if they fail to pay him a ransom. The suspect was arrested last Friday after he had unknowingly had a long text message chat with a Criminal Investigations Department (CID) official who had cultivated his friendship and promised to help him financially.

Boko Haram second in command arrested in Kogi

There are reports that a top Boko Haram commander and an associate of Abubakar Shekau, Khalid Albarnawi, who is also the leader of the Ansaru Islamic Sect, has been arrested by the security agents. According to the report which emanated from the Twitter handle of Ahmed Salkida, a journalist believed to be very close to the Boko Haram sect, Albarawi was arrested in Lokoja, Kogi State by 9am on Friday close to a military facility.

Accra: Burial for Bob Okala on May 7

The final funeral rites of veteran comedian Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng, popularly known as Bob Okala, will be held from May 6-7, 2016 at the Arts Centre in Accra.

The body will then be interred at the Osu Cemetery, also in Accra, on Saturday May 7. These came to light Friday April 1, after a ‘One Week’ commemoration of the death of the Key Soap Concert party icon.

 Bishop Bob Okala collapsed while performing at a programme at Jackson Park at Koforidua in the Eastern region on March 12, 2015, after which he was rushed to the Koforidua Government Hospital where he died.

But the family is appealing to the government to honour him with a state funeral, given his contribution to Ghana’s entertainment industry. Okala shot to prominence as a comedian in the late ’90s with the weekly Key Soap Concert Party show, often emerging on stage with a wall clock strapped to his left wrist. Present at the event were David Dontoh, Ebenezer Donkor (Katawere), Ice Kenkey, among other notable names on the local entertainment scene.
