The NPP National Youth organizer, Sammy Awuku said “the NPP is taking steps to train its people again, that I can tell you for a fact.” “We are taking the steps to give maximum protection to our presidential candidate and his running mate.
That is non-negotiable. So whether the South Africans have been sent home or not, we will take that step to protect our presidential candidate and his running mate and of course by extension to also offer some protection to all those who will be on the campaign trail until the Police arrive with their help.”
Sammy Awuku’s comment follows the repatriation of the three South African ex-Police officers who were arrested in Ghana for training the security detail of the flagbearer and running mate of the opposition NPP.
Their visas were revoked by the Ghana Immigration Service after the service claimed that the three South African’s concealed their motives for being in Ghana. On how the party feels about the repatriation of the retired South African Police officer, Sammy Awuku said “we feel that the security agencies acted in the most despicable manner, reckless and a culture of impunity.”
