Ghana To Declare HIPC Status ?

Ghana is among the list of 36 countries that are eligible to receive assistance under the Highly Indebted Poor Country initiative by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if they wish to do so.
The IMF and World Bank launched the HIPC initiative with the aim of helping poor countries manage their indebtedness. Ghana was listed alongside Afghanistan, Chad, Haiti among others.  According to the Washington-based lender, the  countries listed below may apply for the HIPC assistance if they so wish.
Afghanistan, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, São Tomé & Príncipe, Haiti, Honduras, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Uganda, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Zambia,  Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan
