Flirtation High On Social Media – Study

Back in the day, they’d flutter their eyelashes or share a nervous, giggly chat. That is hardly over. But American teens are now also turning to online networks as tools for flirting, researchers reported Thursday. Indeed, the keypads of smartphones and such are often firing off the sparks of young love, or at least like, said the study by the Pew Research Center.
US teens use Social Media to ‘like’, comment on, ‘friend’ or joke around with someone they have a crush on, the study said. The old-fashioned stuff of wooing still prevails but now “technology is a major vehicle for flirting and expressing interest in a potential partner,” said the study. The survey of those between the ages of 13 and 17 said only 35 percent had been in a romantic relationship, but 55 percent had flirted or talked to someone in person to let them know they are interested. Pew found 31 percent of teens had sent flirtatious messages, 10 percent had sent photos as part of flirting and seven percent had made a video for potential partner. “Digital platforms are powerful tools for teens for flirting, wooing, connecting with and even showing off a

It Is A "blatant lie" 'Govt paid Ibrahim Mahama $200m for Odaw dredging' - Kennedy Agyapong

Ibrahim Mahama
“This Mahama-led administration has really taken us for granted, and I won’t allow that to happen. I will continue speaking the truth till the truth prevails,”This is a quote from the Member of Parliament for Assin North in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong. He has alleged that construction firm, Engineers and Planners, owned by President John Mahama's brother was paid 200 million dollars to dredge the Odaw River after the twin fire and flood disaster. Kennedy Agyapong's claims come after the Minority demanded Ibrahim Mahama to pay full cost of  government equipment used for the project. Minority spokesperson on Local Government, Kwesi Ameyaw Kyeremeh at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, claimed the equipment was procured solely for distribution to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, and not to be given to private companies. However, the Minister for Local Government, Alhaji Collins Dauda said the call by the Minority is misplaced. He explained that Engineers and Planners opted to dredge the Odaw River for free because

Amputation of 2-year-old's Fingers: Unrepentant Couple Remanded

The couple who burnt the fingers of a two-year-old boy in the Ashanti Region has been remanded in prison custody to reappear on October 6, 2015. Judge Peter Oppong Boahene remanded Nana Oti and Rita Oti, caretakers of the boy, to allow the prosecution more time to investigate the matter. The two are accused of burning the fingers of the two-year-old with a red hot iron. Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor reported the couple, particularly, the woman showed no sign of remorse when they were remanded, Thursday. The two were expected to be the guardians of a boy whose father is domiciled in Nigeria but they turned out to be chronic molesters of the little one, a neighbour reported. Accusing the victim of eating out, the two conspired to burn the fingers of the two-year-old who is now at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The victim was thought to have lost only two of the fingers but Joy FM's Super Morning Show host Kojo Yankson who travelled to Kumasi to pay him a visit said all five fingers have been lost. According to him, the three remaining fingers had to be cut off because they were in a complete state of deterioration. A strong-willed boy, as Yankson described him, naturally succumbed to the pain as he moaned and groaned for most part of the time Kojo was there. The couple was initially arrested for allegedly maltreating the victim but was released under very mysterious circumstances. According to Yankson, hospital authorities said there was nobody to look after the boy whilst he was on admission at the hospital a reason why the suspects were released to care for him. The police also claimed there was no prima facie case at the time to continue holding the couple. It did not appear Mr and Mrs Oti learnt any lessons from the first arrest and continued to abuse the boy some patients of the hospital claimed. The two-year-old had "cane marks" all over his "scarred" body, Yankson described and did look like one subjected to serious maltreatment. Things went out of control and the couple was arrested for the second time and are now facing prosecution.

"Eight Men Have Been Playing For Iran’s Female National Team"

It has been claimed by an Iranian league official that eight of the country’s female national football team are actually male. The Iranian FA has been branded ‘unethical’, after it was alleged the players were actually men awaiting sex change operations. Sporting authorities have reportedly ordered gender testing on Wednesday following the claims, made by a man named Mojtabi Sharifi. He told an Iranian news website: "Eight players have been playing with Iran’s female team without completing sex change operations." Female football is surprisingly popular in Iran, with the national team wearing hijab headscarfs, long-sleeved jerseys and tracksuit bottoms to play the game. Sharifi didn’t actually name any of the players who are allegedly male, but did say some had spent their entire careers playing for the women’s team, only to disclose their true gender on their last day in the squad. Doubts began to surface over the legitimacy of some of the players in 2010, when the gender of a goalkeeper in the squad was questioned.

Madrid To Lose Ronaldo ?

“I am happy here, I want to win things here. I feel good, but as I have said millions of times no one knows what will happen in the future,” the three-time World Player of the Year told Spanish radio station Cadena SER. “We will see what happens tomorrow but at this moment in time I am happy at Real Madrid,” he added. Cristiano Ronaldo refused to commit his future to Real Madrid just hours after becoming the club’s joint leading scorer of all time with two goals on Wednesday. Ronaldo equalled Raul’s record of 323 goals for the Spanish giants in their 2-0 Champions League win over Malmo despite Raul playing over 400 games more for Los Blancos than the Portuguese star, who also passed 500 career goals on the night. Ronaldo has long been linked with a return to Manchester United, where he starred between 2003 and 2009 before a then world record 80 million euro ($90 million, £59 million) transfer to Madrid.
A move to Paris Saint Germain or even a shock transfer to Major League Soccer in the United States have also been rumoured. “No one knows what will happen next year. I am happy here, but you never know what will happen in the future. “I have to achieve things here, I feel good, I want to win things with Real Madrid because I think this club has potential to win things, but I don’t know what will happen in the future.” Ronaldo spoke to the Spanish media present in Sweden for the first time since February after Real were humiliated 4-0 by Atletico Madrid. The Portuguese was heavily criticised for going ahead with his 30th birthday party the night of that defeat after Colombian rapper Kevin Roldan posted pictures of Ronaldo and other Madrid players enjoying themselves on social media. Barcelona defender Gerard Pique then sarcastically thanked Roldan for his part in Madrid’s rivals success after they won the treble of La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey last season. “It isn’t the moment to speak about these things. When I don’t speak it is because something isn’t right, so every one can think what they like,” added Ronaldo. “It was my decision. I didn’t want to speak and there is no one that obliges me to. I speak when I want to, Real Madrid have never put pressure on me to speak. “Why do I not speak more often? Because the questions aren’t good. What does this (Roldan) have to do with the game? “You want to put me in a mess with what Pique has done, why does that matter to me?”

Mecca Stampede: Eight Ghanaians dead

Eight Ghanaians have been confirmed dead in this year's Hajj in Saudi Arabian. The National Hajj Committee confirmed that three people died as a result of the stampede that claimed over 700 lives last week. Five other deaths are however not related to the stampede, Alhaji Rauf Tanko, Chairman of the Hajj committee said. He said the Committee has been searching for those who were injured in the stampede. Two are receiving treatment at the hospital while another person has been brought to the Ghana camp in Mecca. In relation to the stampede, at least 54 Nigerians are known to have died. It was the second disaster to strike in Mecca in a space of two weeks after a crane collapsed at the Grand Mosque killing 109 people. The stampede is the deadliest in 25 years. About 769 pilgrims died in the incident and more than 200 of the number are believed to be from Africa. The stampede appears to have been caused in Mina when pilgrims converged to take part in the Hajj's last major rite - throwing stone at pillars called Jamarat - where Satan is believed to have tempted the Prophet Abraham. Offering condolences to the relatives of the dead and injured, King Salman said "we have instructed concerned authorities to review the operations plan and to raise the level of organization and management to ensure that the guests of God perform their rituals in comfort and ease."

Let's Know IT experts - NPP asks EC

Madam Charlotte Osei
The EC on Wednesday at an IPAC meeting revealed that it has recruited an undisclosed IT expert to help investigate the allegations of a bloated voters register.  Madam Charlotte Osei said: “We are investigating the allegations which have been made by some political parties especially when it touches on the integrity or the security of our IT systems. We are getting independent outside expertise to help us look into those allegations.” The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wants the Electoral Commission (EC) to disclose the identity of the IT expert reviewing the voters register. It insists that an independent review of the voters register is necessary. “This is a public service, how do you simply keep the name of the company out. We are not in the know of the nature of the work. We are not too sure we are giving this company the database. Are they going round to places like Togo where people are said to be involved in registration to conduct interviews. “It is important that you give much information. In any case, the Commission is supposed to be an interested party. It is the Commission’s work that is in focus here … If we are to get an independent body to do the inquiry, then we can say exactly what it involves,” Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, NPP's Director of elections quipped. However, the General Secretary of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) Kofi Asamoah-Siaw is satisfied with the EC’s move. “I think we are satisfied with the process so far. I think she mentioned that she was going to give us an opportunity to speak to the entire conference to present what was contained in our submission, so that is a good initiative."

Man Caught Having Sex With Donkey

A Wisconsin man who was caught having sex with a donkey while at work has blamed his genitals for the incident, saying that his “privates were out of control.” Court documents show that the man told police he had been performing the sex act during his shift and that he had never done anything like this before. According to a criminal complaint, 20-year-old Gideon D. Swartzentruber was at work when he suddenly became very horny. He then began to touch the female donkey inappropriately before he lured it to a secure location away from its barn and began to have sex with the animal. Swartzentruber claims that the act lasted “not more than a minute” but that his boss walked in and immediately fired him after realizing what he was doing. Police say that Swartzentruber has no previous criminal record while reporting that he had also expressed remorse over the illegal activity. “He said he got crazy and carried away,” the complaint says. “He said he feels bad about it and said it was something that he shouldn’t have been doing.“ The 20-year-old is due to appear in court later in the year after being charged with a misdemeanor count of sexual gratification. If the case goes to court, he faces a possible sentence of nine months in jail.

Court rules for LMVCA to picket at EC

Let My Vote Count Alliance
It's a joyous ruling for Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) as a Circuit Court in Accra has given the green light for  demonstrators to picket at the Electoral Commission (EC) office on September 29, 2015. The Court presided over by Justice Essandoh, set aside an earlier ruling in favour of the Ghana Police Service, banning the demonstrators from picketing at the EC. The police argued that the EC office constituted a security installation and hence it would prevent demonstrators to picket there. An attempt to enter the vicinity last two weeks led the Police to use some force to prevent the demonstrators demanding a new voters’ register from picketing there. One person lost an eye and several others were injured; thus preventing the demonstrators from submitting their petition. By the Court ruling, the demonstrators can also picket at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC). According to the court, the ex parte injunction secured by the Police had elapsed hence the green light for organizers of the demonstration to picket around the EC.
