Benin Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou emerged unscathed after a helicopter he was travelling in crash-landed in the country’s northwest, an official said Sunday. Nairobi - A Kenyan police official says an Islamic extremist died in Kenya's north when a roadside bomb he was planting exploded.

Suleiman Rashid, a senior officer in the northern town of Mandera, said on Saturday that officers on patrol came across five suspected members of Somalia's al-Shabaab extremist group planting a roadside bomb. Rashid said the officers shot at the suspected rebels who panicked and detonated the bomb killing one insurgent while the others escaped.

Mandera has experienced several attacks in this month that officials attribute to a group that has splintered from al-Shabaab, who are allied to al-Qaeda, and have instead pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. Rwanda‘s amended constitution allowing President Paul Kagame to potentially rule until 2034 has come into force, the justice minister said Friday. Abuja - A gas tanker truck ignited an inferno at a crowded industrial gas plant in Nigeria on Thursday, killing more than 100 people lining up to refill their cooking gas cylinders in time for Christmas. The disaster took place in Nnewi, a predominantly Christian community in southeast Nigeria.

He was the 2nd born in a family of eight children (7 girls and 1 boy) born to Acaali Simon Kalenzi and Akiiki Teresa Matama.

Education/Profession;
Amooti Crescent started his early education at St. Mary’s Demonstration School Kinyamasika for his Primary 1 to Primary 4.
When the family moved to Ibanda, he joined Demonstration School Ibanda for his Primary 5 to Primary 7. He then moved back to Fort Portal and completed his formal education at St. Leo’s College, Kyegobe.

Amooti had an enterprising mindset whose robust business acumen and positive attitude to work saw him venture into several successful businesses. Most notably, he founded a construction company, BCR General Ltd with his wife Dorothy. Together, they built several other successful businesses.

Family Life:
Crescent Baguma met Dorothy Mwirumubi in 1983 and they were married in 1989.
Amooti Crescent was blessed with six lovely children; Eileen Kanyana Baguma Musinguzi, Emmanuella Mpanja Baguma, Isingoma Baguma, Kato Baguma, Sylvia Teresa Baguma and Ronald Baguma.

He was also blessed with 3 granddaughters; Chloe Kenyange Musinguzi, Casey Nsemere Musinguzi and Hannah Byanjeru Achuchi Lukendo whom he loved very dearly.

A simple, kind and self-made man, Crescent loved his family very dearly and worked tirelessly and selflessly to provide for them.
