Durban – The stabbed and strangled body of a KwaZulu-Natal businessman, who was reported missing on Tuesday night, has been found at a primary school in Tongaat, north of Durban. Police spokesperson Colonel Santha Moodley said authorities had begun looking for 65-year-old Ronnie Munsamy after his family opened a missing person’s case at 22:00 on Tuesday. “He is believed to have used a room at the Belfrost Primary School for church gatherings. From what we know so far, he employed two men to clear grass at the school.

He is said to have received a call at 17:00 from one of the men saying they left equipment at the school. “After not being able to get hold of him for hours, the family opened a missing person’s docket. Police began a search but because of poor visibility could not find anything. His family contacted MTN and last got a signal from his phone in Ndwedwe. His body was found strangled and stabbed this morning.” Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) head Prem Balram said Munsamy was an elder at the church.

“Munsamy's family grew concerned after he failed to return to his residence later that afternoon. A relative from Australia contacted RUSA for assistance in locating the businessman. Reaction Officers and family of the deceased then launched a search party and worked throughout the night in an attempt to locate him. “A relative recovered his body at the school during the early parts of this morning. His silver Opel Corsa bakkie with registration NJ 31082 and his iPhone 5 have been stolen by the suspects. “The deceased's two daughters who live in New York and Washington DC in the United States have been informed of the murder and are currently on their way back to South Africa,” Balram said.
