Boko Haram has killed four women in a remote village in Nigeria’s northeast in the latest attack by the Islamist group, local vigilantes assisting the military said on Saturday. Fourteen Boko Haram gunmen on seven motorcycles stormed Mairari village, 80 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital late Friday and picked four women from their homes and slit their throats, they said.

A 52-year-old caretaker chief of Kpali, a border town in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District in the Northern Region, has allegedly been killed by Fulani herdsmen who attempted to cross the Black Volta into Cote d’Ivoire. Coffie Adams, who was on the Ghana side of the river to enforce an order by the chief of the area to prevent people from crossing the river at night, was shot at by the herdsmen, killing him instantly, while one other person sustained injury.

Three Regional Chairmen of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Upper East, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti Regions, have filed a fresh suit at the Supreme Court, asking it to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to furnish them with the list of all persons who registered with NHIS cards nationwide.

The Regional Chairmen say their request has become necessary in the light of the Supreme Court’s order in the Abu Ramadan case, directing the EC to expunge such names from the voters’ register. Speaking to Citi News, the lawyer for the three, Nana Obiri Boahene, said their decision is borne out of their desire to help the EC perform that role effectively.

Thai man is recovering in hospital after an encounter with a 3-meter python that made its way through the plumbing of his home and latched onto his manhood as he was using a squat toilet. Attaporn Boonmakchuay said the snake was "yanking very hard" as he tried to remove it, according to the Bangkok Post. "I felt as though my penis had been severed," he added.

The St. John’s Basic School, in Accra New Town has been closed down following an attack on female teachers in the school by youth in the area. The attack follows a decision by one of the teachers to 'discipline' one of the pupils for misbehaving. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Basic Education, Alex Kyeremeh has condemned an attack on female teachers at the St. John's primary and JHS school at Accra New Town by some thugs.

A 79-old woman has vowed to testify against her own son for butchering her 45-year-old lover during sex. A woman in Goldsboro, N.C., found a body in a deep freezer she bought from her neighbor. She was told to wait for a church to pick up items left in the freezer, but when the church never came, "I decided to open it," the unidentified woman said.

A video shows children gagging and squirming as they are forced to swallow live fish as part of a ritual thought to ease breathing problems in India. A crowd of 100,000 people gathered at Hyderabad's Exhibition Ground to take part in the ritual, where instead of an asthma pump Indians of all ages participate in an annual ceremony in which they must eat the wriggling fish.

Pictures and videos emerging from flood prone zones such as Circle, Kaneshie, Abossey Okai, Mamprobi, Madina, Weija and several other places show people trapped in the rains. In Kaneshie, people have had to employ the services of heavily built men who carry them to cross the floods. The Dzorwulu portion of the N1 Highway is also flooded causing several cars to be trapped on the route.
