The late Osei Tawiah Family of 22 year-old man, Osei Tawiah, who was allegedly brutalized to death by Police in Krofrom, have abandoned their plan to conduct another autopsy on the body of their deceased relative to clear any doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The first autopsy report, which was issued by pathologists at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, said Osei Tawiah died of congestive heart failure, suggesting that he died of natural causes.
The report angered the youth in the area, who reportedly went after police officials and burned tyres in the streets. The autopsy report was also rejected by members of Tawiah's family, who suspect a cover-up by the police.
Some of them who claimed to have witnessed the police assault of Tawiah until he died vowed to resort to black magic to deal with his killers. But his father, Kwesi Ahenkan who still believes his son died as a result of the Police brutalities, tells Adom News he will no longer seek further clarifications because it will not bring his son back to life.
Mr. Ahenkan says he is leaving everything in God's hands. However, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has suggested that if there is still doubt in the minds of the family surrounding Tawiah's death, “they are free to go ahead to conduct another autopsy to allay doubts”.
Meanwhile, Deputy Ashanti Police Commander, ACP Osei Ampofo Duku has issued a stern warning to persons trailing and harrasing a policewoman they erroneously believe took part in the alleged beating to cease and desist or face the wrath of the Police.
