Viewers Of Anas’ video in contempt of court – Ndebugri

John Ndebugri, a private legal practitioner and lawyer for some of the 22 judges who were implicated in the judicial corruption scandal, has warned that all the people who viewed Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ video at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Tuesday, are in contempt of court. An interlocutory injunction on the journalist to stop him from showing the video was dropped but a fresh one was filed on the AICC.
Thousands of people lined up the venue for the premiering as managers of the Accra International Conference Center disregarded the injunction and went ahead allowing Anas to show the video. John Ndebugri said the people who saw the video could not argue ignorance of the injunction against the video premiere
and as such, were in contempt of court.
 He suggested that the lawyer for Justice Dery should have mounted cameras to record people who went in to see the video. “The showing of the video is in absolute contempt of the High Court of the republic of Ghana. If I were the lawyers for Justice Dery, I would’ve stationed an equally powerful camera like Anas’ to capture all the people who are going in to the AICC to view. They are all culpable, they are all in contempt of court including the minister and diplomats.” John Ndebugri criticized the AICC for allowing the video to be premiered given the pending injunction case. According to him, the decision of AICC to ‘open its doors’ to the public for the viewing was ‘disrespectful to the judicial process’ “I was in court when under some pressure, lawyer for Justice Dery asked on good advise to withdraw his application for an interlocutory injunction against Tigereye PI from airing the video. But my information indicated that there was another application for injunction restraining the AICC from airing the video. My instructions are that that application has been duly served on the management of the AICC.” “The management of the AICC who are aware that there is an application pending against the airing of this video and have gone ahead to open its doors and accept people to come and view the video is obviously disrespectful of the court and the judicial process,” he stated.
