A 60-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was butchered by some young men at Sankpala in the Central Gonja district of the Northern region for being a witch. The victim, Humunatu Fuseni according to reports, was nearly lynched by the young men in the community for allegedly killing all the able bodied men in the area.
Adom News’ Northern regional correspondent, Illiasu Abdul Rauf said the unfortunate incident occurred Saturday dawn. He indicated that, the young men majority of whom are unemployed also accused the old woman of using witchcraft to block their progress.
“One of the young men said he saw the old woman in his dream and discussed it with his friends who intend decided to beat her up for being an enemy of progress” he added. The matter was reported to the police who arrested three young men deemed to be ringleaders of those who committed the heinous crime. The three Rauf added help the Buipe police to round up about 30 people who are currently in police custody.
