Accra: Burial for Bob Okala on May 7

The final funeral rites of veteran comedian Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng, popularly known as Bob Okala, will be held from May 6-7, 2016 at the Arts Centre in Accra.

The body will then be interred at the Osu Cemetery, also in Accra, on Saturday May 7. These came to light Friday April 1, after a ‘One Week’ commemoration of the death of the Key Soap Concert party icon.

Bishop Bob Okala collapsed while performing at a programme at Jackson Park at Koforidua in the Eastern region on March 12, 2015, after which he was rushed to the Koforidua Government Hospital where he died.

But the family is appealing to the government to honour him with a state funeral, given his contribution to Ghana’s entertainment industry. Okala shot to prominence as a comedian in the late ’90s with the weekly Key Soap Concert Party show, often emerging on stage with a wall clock strapped to his left wrist. Present at the event were David Dontoh, Ebenezer Donkor (Katawere), Ice Kenkey, among other notable names on the local entertainment scene.
