One of the several youth who announced their decision to join the terrorist group, Islamic State, is facing prosecution. Eliasu Alhassan was arrested upon his return to Ghana recently and has been detained by national security operatives.
The national security has been on high alert after declaring that Ghana was vulnerable to terrorist attacks in the wake of attacks on neighboring countries.
Last month news broke that one of the Ghanaian ISIS recruits, Mohammed Nazir Nortei Alema, had died. Documents available suggest that the returnee-recruit is a former student of the St. Augustines Senior High School and currently a final year medical student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The case has been adjourned to May 17.
