Accra: "I can’t stop Afoko from speaking" – Human Rights Court

The Human Rights court has told the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that it cannot under any circumstances stop their suspended National Chairman, Paul Awentime Afoko from, speaking, especially, to the media about happenings in the elephant family.
“As a Human Rights Court Judge, I believe in freedom of speech. Therefore, I cannot stop Afoko from speaking. But if he makes contentious statement, you can drag him to court”, the Presiding Judge, Anthony Yeboah, pronounced at a hearing in Accra,

The decision was taken by the court at its hearing of the suit filed by Mr. Afoko against the elephant family praying to pronounce his indefinite suspension by the party illegal. Mr. Afoko was suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition on October 2015 for misconduct. The decision was upheld by the party’s National Council which is the second highest decision making body of the party after Congress.
