Oda Taxi drivers and their wives ready to campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo

An association has been formed and dubbed “Taxi drivers and wives for Nana Addo,” in the Birim Central Municipality by Taxi drivers and their wives to campaign effectively for the success of Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general election. At a meeting with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Mr William Agyapong Quaittoo, at Oda  members of the association expressed their willingness to work tirelessly for Nana Akufo-Addo to secure 80 per cent of the valid votes cast in the Oda Constituency in the November 7, 2016 general election.

The coordinator of the association, Mr Kwasi Effah (aka Obi Manso), said the taxi drivers would convince passengers who board their vehicles to cast their votes for Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr Quaittoo. He stressed that they and their wives would also conduct house-to-house campaigns during their free time for Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr Quaittoo.

 According to Mr Effah, they formed the association to vote President John Mahama and the NDC government out because of the economic hardships they were facing. He cited some of the hardships as outrageous electricity tariffs; indiscriminate increases in fuel prices; and high cost of vehicle spare parts, vehicle insurance and road worthiness certificates.

He also promised that the drivers would provide free transport for the NPP executive on the election day for them to monitor the polls. Mr Quaittoo praised members of the association for voluntarily coming together to help Nana Akufo-Addo and himself.

Mr Effah said he was confident that Nana Akufo-Addo would reduce the high electricity bills, the numerous taxes and fuel cost to bring lasting relief to them when he is elected as President.
