Atebubu: Apostolic Church Pastor and Elder shot dead by robbers

The Sene east District Head Pastor of the Apostolic church of Ghana and one of his church elders have been shot dead by suspected robbers. The two, Pastor Saki and Elder Ampah were killed Sunday morning on the Atebubu-Kumasi highway.

The governing National Democratic Congress has not made good most of the promises listed in the 2012 manifesto, founding President of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe has stated. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has condemned attacks on three Danish journalists who were carrying out a report on mining in Ghana. According to MFWA, the journalists from Impact TV, a Denmark-based television station were harassed by security operatives who forcefully seized their filming equipment after they had taken footages at Saaman, a mining community in the Eastern region.

Oyo - A 60-year-old woman, Asabi Adebayo, has been arrested by the police in Oyo State for allegedly buying five babies at N5million from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. The suspect, who planned to fly the babies abroad for sale, was said to have brought them to an orphanage in Ibadan to obtain a certified police report for them when the bubble burst.

Abuja – The former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come out in the open to say it is yet to recover from the fight that led former president Olusegun Obasanjo to tear his membership card. Obasanjo said at the time that his decision to dump the party came after he was accused of anti-party activities after he critically spoke against the then president, Goodluck Jonathan's administration.

Harare – A pastor who was caught caressing and fondling a married woman inside a car near a car park was brutally killed early this week, a report says.

Quoting the H-Metro, Metroafrique said the Zimbabwean pastor was spotted by the woman's husband in Harare.
It was alleged that the husband engaged the duo in a speed chase and caught up with them after the woman’s car fell into a ditch.

He then bundled the pastor into his car and drove away, only to come back to dump him at the accident scene. The pastor was said to be unconscious when he was dumped. He had been beaten to a pulp. He died later after he was taken to the hospital. Police confirmed that they had arrested the husband.

India: 10 guests killed as Wedding turns into tragedy

Patna - A fire has killed 10 guests after they attended a wedding in a village in eastern India. Police officer Sanjay Kumar says a thatched roof apparently caught fire where guests were sleeping after the wedding ceremonies ended.
Strong wind fanned the flames, and five women, two men and three children couldn't be rescued, Kumar said. Authorities are investigating the fire that occurred on Friday in Harinagar Tola, a village in Bihar state about 165km south of Patna, the state capital.
The bride and groom were not hurt. Fires are quite common during Indian weddings as people explode firecrackers or fire guns in the air during celebrations that ignore safety standards. - AP

Boko Haram: Money recovered as 4 notorious Boko Haram leaders arrested

Amidst massive raid of camps and ammunition dumps of Boko Haram across northern and central parts of Borno State, troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested four notorious leaders of the Islamic insurgency group responsible for recent attacks in that region, Army officials said.

Following the disagreements over Ghana’s voters’ register ahead of Presidential and parliamentary elections in November this year, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, who earlier told Citi News that Britain did not have a view on the raging debate, has stated that no country can have a perfect voters’ register, adding that even the United Kingdom doesn’t have one.

The Supreme Court has ordered two banks in Accra, to use all the money in Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s account to defray the GHC51.2million judgement debt he owes the state. Mr. Justice Annin Yeboah gave the order when three financial institutions appeared before him on Thursday, to give the statement of account of the judgement debtor (Woyome) following a garnishee order he granted the Attorney General’s Department about 10 days ago.

Ghana: President John Dramani Mahama cited in AG's report on $28,000 SA trip

President John Dramani Mahama has been cited in the Auditor-General’s report on public accounts of Ghana as having used his office as the vice president in 2011 to spend $28, 692 on his family while he was in South Africa. The Auditor-General’s report indicated that Ghana’s high commission in Pretoria, South Africa, spent that money on the president and his family for their transport, accommodation and repair of a vehicle while they were in that country.

Kumasi: Ghana's 1st 'Spiritual' contest between a bishop and a traditionalist

Bishop Daniel Obinim, the Founder and Leader of International Godsway Church, declared himself the winner of a spiritual contest he arranged with one traditional priest, Okomfo Yaw Appiah.

The controversial man of God declared himself the winner of the contest which was scheduled to take place at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi after the traditional priest failed to turn up at the venue.

The contest attracted more than 2000 inhabitants of the Kumasi metropolis to the venue; majority of who were members of his congregation. Bishop Obiinim arrived at the location at 11:20 am in an all white atttire with two VIP Buses full of his congregation.

He was accompanied to the venue by his junior pastors who had gathered the congregation to pray to support their man of God whose image was being tarnished by the priest. Arriving at the Jubilee Park in a convoy, the light skinned man of God was said to have been poised for action upon seeing an ambulance come to the venue later with two white coffins.

The contest arose after the traditional priest claimed that he offered the controversial man of God the power to perform miracles. Enraged by the comments from Okomfo Yaw Appiah, 'Angel' Obinim was said to have challenged the priest to come for his powers if he indeed was the one who offered them to him.

An Accra High Court has ordered the confiscation of properties of a convicted drug carrier, Nayele Ametefe who is currently serving an eight (8) year jail term in the United Kingdom. Founder and Leader of the New Jerusalem Church, Bishop J.Y Adu has accused controversial Nigerian Prophet, T.B Joshua of ‘stealing’ his prophecy concerning a possible terror on Ghana and Nigeria. The Kumasi-based man of God told Adom News that the Nigerian based prophet might have gotten wind of the contents of his prophecies in January 2016 and only presented a rehashed version of it during his church service at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

A gang of robbers gruesomely murdered an evangelist in cold blood for urging them to repent from their sins. Chukwu Ekere, a pastor based in Rivers state have been killed for preaching repentance in the oil-rich state. According to the police, the Rivers State Police Command arrested the culprits along with four suspected kidnappers and one armed robber.
