18 Feared Dead As Bus Plunges Into Arun River in Ogun State

Lagos - An unspecified number of passengers were feared dead on Thursday when an 18-seater commercial bus plunged into the Arun River at Ogere, near Ijebu Ode in Ogun. Mr Ibrahim Farinloye,The Public Information Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident. He
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and said the police have mobilized local volunteers and divers to begin recovery of the victims,’’. He noted, however, that only two bodies had been recovered from the scene. NAN recalls that in 2012, a 32-seater bus similarly, plunged into the river, killing 22 people heading for a wedding.
