General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and the entire staff of Atebubu district office of the Electoral Commission (EC) has incurred the wrath of some supporters of the NDC at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region for suspending a parliamentary aspirant. The concerned supporters have invoked curses of the gods on them. It will be recalled that the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC suspended Sampson Owusu Boateng, an aspirant for Atebubu-Amantin constituency, and two members of the candidate’s campaign team, Obeng Agyenim Boateng and Mohammed Sulemana, for violating regulations governing the upcoming primaries. But the decision of the committee did not go down well with the supporters of the suspended candidate, who stormed the offices of the EC in the early hours of Friday morning and invoked the curses in a bid to get the decision changed. On his part, the Paramount Chief of Atebubu, Nana Owusu Achaw Brempong
II, is appealing to NDC party executives to allow the suspended Sampson
Owusu Boateng to contest in the election in order for peace to prevail. Mr.Ewu Thomas Elyasu, Electoral officer for Atebubu Amantin, says he is not perturbed by the supposed curse arguing that the decision has already been made and nothing can change it..
