Nairobi - Police in Nairobi, Kenya arrested two foreign nationals with a stash of fake Euros and US dollars amounting to KES 111bn. The two, a Cameroonian and a Nigerien were arrested in the Kilimani area and Diamond Estate on Mombasa Road with the fake currency as well as money minting machines.
Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet confirmed the incident saying the two 'were part of an international hard currency counterfeiting curtail. "From our initial investigations we have discovered that they are the kingpins of a transnational hard currency counterfeiting ring that is aimed at fleecing unsuspecting members of the public both inside this country and beyond,” Boinnet said. Addressing the Press at Wilson Airport Monday, Boinnet also revealed that the government had received intel about the presence of international fake currency dealers in the country. The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting trial.
