The two passengers – workers of the Cocoa Processing Company in Tarkoradi – aboard the 23-seater sprinter bus died on the spot while the injured have been taken to the Cape Coast and Effia Nkwanta hospitals for treatment.
The military ambulance with registration number 42 GA 57 had two people in it, the driver and a commander. Meanwhile, the MP for Takoradi Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah is calling on Parliament to help him support families whose relatives perished in the accident.
The two were part of a team of 22 staff members of the company who have been home for the last 28 months due to the closure of the factory. The workers were on their way to Parliament to listen to the minister’s answer to a question by the lawmaker to the finance minister on the reopening of the factory. Speaking on the floor of the House the MP called on the government to reopen the factory for operations to ensure the livelihoods of the workers are restored. -Starrfmonline
