Ghana: 'Akufo-Addo’s one factory in every district is possible' - Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that the  the one factory in every district promised by the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is “feasible” but his only difficulty is that Nana Akufo-Addo did not give details on how he intends to make the 'dream' a reality. Nana Akufo-Addo, on his campaign trail in the Central region, promised to help build one factory in each of the 216 districts. He vowed to make industrialisation the cornerstone of his policy of economic transformation.

But the NDC rubbished the promise by the opposition leader describing it as an election promise. However, Mr. Asiedu Nketia on Asempa FM Wednesday said the one factory in every district is possible, but the concept lacks clarity.

“Is Nana Akufo-Addo going to create the environment for individuals to open the factories or the state is now going to do business. I’m confused because I know the NPP is capitalist oriented" he stressed. Failure to do so, the NDC scribe said, it will be one of his many utopian promises by Nana Akufo-Addo to the electorates ahead of a crucial election.

“Even as an individual, I have three block factories so “I choose to open more in other districts and boast that I have established factories in districts,” he scoffed. This notwithstanding, General Mosquito said the Mahama-led government is creating the needed environment for Akufo-Addo promise to become a reality in the unlikely event that the NDC loses power. “I can’t say it [the one factory promise] is impossible because we are creating the conditions for people to open jobs” he stated.
