Parts of Accra, Ghana's capital has been decorated with huge billboards, advertising the visit of the Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on the occasion of the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize slated for Saturday, August 20. The 92-year old Zimbabwean leader was expected to deliver a presidential lecture at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. However, President Mugabe has cancelled his trip to Ghana.
Organizers of the event, Millennium Excellence Foundation, say the cancellation is due to reasons beyond their control. But anonymous sources at the Zimbabwean Embassy in Ghana, has hinted that the trip was cancelled due to domestic political issues in Zimbabwe.

Event organizers, believes the event will go ahead as planned but without the presidential lecture. Nine African personalities including three Ghanaians; are expected to be conferred with Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize, LAAP.
