National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters and those of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have clashed on Sunday evening as the limited registration came to an end. A communication member of the NPP who for fear of his life gave his name as Akwesi Aboagye said, the monitoring officers of the elephant family were allegedly assaulted by members of the NDC after resisting attempts by the umbrella members, to register minors and foreigners. According to him, the NDC threatened to kill them because they challenged some persons they suspected to be foreigners who came to register. "We were physically assaulted in the presence of uniformed security officers. We did nothing wrong; all we did was to challenge some foreigners and minors that the NDC brought in to register. They threatened to kill us. As I speak to you now the situation is going out of hands.
Our parliamentary candidate was attacked by some macho men together with some military officers." He said "we have reported the case to the police but we have not heard anything regarding the attack." He added, about eight members from their monitoring team are seriously injured as a result of the assault, yet their attackers are walking free on the streets.
He indicated that the area is currently tensed as members from both parties are attacking each other with cutlasses, clubs and other offensive weapons. "Some people are wielding cutlasses and clubs...The area is not safe any more. This is disgusting. Nkoranza is currently on fire. I narrowly escaped because the road is currently blocked.
Our member was butchered and currently on admission battling his life" According to him their office was vandalised by some persons suspected to be supporters of the NDC. He described the incident as disgusting and unfortunate and has charged the police to immediately intervene before the situation worsens.
