They were said to be considering adoption and a civil partnership. But Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood has reportedly split with his long-term partner Damon Scott after three years. The acerbic dance judge, 51, is said to have made the decision after realising that he didn't want to commit to the 36-year-old puppeteer. According to the Mirror Craig is said to have ended the relationship because he couldn't see a 'future' for the couple - who got together in 2013.
Speaking about what led to the break-up, a source close to the couple said: 'Craig and Damon haven’t been together for weeks. 'It was Craig’s decision to end it. He just couldn’t see a long-term future.'
The inside added that the estranged partners have remained on good terms since the split, adding: 'It was an amicable split although it’s still strange for them adjusting to life without each other.'
The news may come as a surprise to some, as only last year the Strictly star admitted that marriage had crossed his mind. Explaining that they were to adopt a child then he would 'definitely' take the plunge, Craig told OK! magazine:
'I believe in civil partnerships as it protects each partner. Whether I believe in marriage is a different thing. 'But if it were to protect children we might adopt in the future, I’d definitely do it.'
Craig and Damon first went public in 2013, one year after Craig split from his partner of five years Grant MacPherson. Shortly after he started dating Damon - who shot to fame on the first series of Britain's Got Talent in 2007 - Craig gushed that he was 'divine'.
Writing in his column for Woman magazine at the time, he said: 'He's 6ft 4in, so for once I'm the shorter one in the relationship and he's just divine, darlings.'
The dancing star, who was also married to Jane Hallwood for two years, touched on his sexuality during a chat with OK!. 'I was bisexual for a long time,' he told the magazine. 'I flitted between men and women quite a lot between the ages of 17 and 26. My wife Jane left me for another man. Then I fell in love with a bloke, and I have been gay ever since.'
