He has described President John Mahama’s response to the Ford Expedition controversy as not a mark of good “statesmanship”. According to him, the first gentleman of the land must not react or respond to issues of allegations in that harsh manner. President John Mahama described as “baseless” the allegation of corruption being levelled against him.
Responding to the charge, the President told a gathering at Ashaiman during his ‘accounting to the people tour’ of the Greater Accra region that the allegations will not stick because Ghanaians are discerning. "The allegation of corruption is baseless. Baseless accusations won’t win you the Presidency. Ghanaians are discerning, and I believe come November 7, they will make their decision," he said
“It’s the call for to investigate him over the allegations baseless, or what is baseless about legitimate questions being asked by the general public about the issue is baseless?” He questioned.
“It’s baseless that his Burkinabe friend Mr. Djibril Kanazoe gave him Ford Expedition or what is baseless at all about the issue?” He quizzes.
“It’s baseless that he received the car;
it’s baseless that he gave his friend a contract,
it’s baseless that we paid duties on the car,” lawyer Opoku Agyemang asked.
“We’re not children in the country; if you’re a president and addressing the people you just don’t say the allegation is baseless without giving any credence to what you say,” he advised.
“We should call a spade a spade and stop doing cover up, a bribe is a bribe period,” Lawyer Opoku Agyemang stressed
Lawyer Opoku Agyeman was speaking on Wednesday on Adom FM’s current affairs programmer “Burning Issues” hosted by Afia Pokua.
