Accra: 12-year-old girl Drowns At Amanfrom

A 12-year-old girl has drowned at Amanfrom, a suburb of Ngleshi Amanfrom in Greater Accra Region Mavis Akufo was said to have gone to the banks of the Weija Lake to fetch water with three other siblings at 10:00 a.m. on Monday when the tragic incident occurred.

New trainee nurses who are yet to be put on the students loan scheme will also be put on the cancelled nurses allowance scheme, President John Mahama has announced.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has failed again to elect a Presiding Member after the 9th attempt.The two aspirants, Mr. Boadi Abraham polled 69 votes while Mr. Adusei Bonsu Michael had 50 votes.

Bolgatanga: “Ghanaians are saying they cannot make ends meet" - Kyerematen

Alan Kyerematen, former Minister of Trades and Industry, has made known over the weekend in Bolgatanga, that Ghanaians are worse off, in spite of the many infrastructural development the John Mahama-led government boasts of. He said this when he joined Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his tour of the Upper East Region

“Our problem, in the past, was a district. President Kufuor, before the 2000 elections, came here and told us that if he won the election, it will be done. True to his word, the creation of the district was done. When NPP promises you something, it will be done. Thanks to his Excellency, President Kufuor, for giving us the district,” he said.

Naba Asigiri Azoka Abugrago II, paramount Chief of Bawku, has denied allegations that he has endorsed President John Mahama (NDC) ahead of the conduct of this year’s elections. According to him, reports that he declared his support for President Mahama, after his visit to his palace earlier this month, are not true.

The outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey has revealed that some politicians attempted to bribe him with $100, 000 to prevent him from making negative comments on national issues. Prof. Martey, who failed to mention whether the politicians were NDC or NPP members alleged that the politicians also promised to give him a mansion at Trasaaco and a V8 vehicle if he remained silent on national issues.

lol. I'm African, specifically Namibian. I'm not aware of such practices but its all humour to me. It's seemingly practised in some parts of Africa (rural areas that is), but I think this was a section from a film/movie. I saw this clip for the first time bout 2 years ago, but every time I watch it, I still ROFL! 😂 😂 😂

Zimbabwe: Mugabe Orders Arrest Of Rio 2016 Olympic Team

The Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri has been instructed by Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe to arrest and detain the whole Zimbabwean Olympic Team members immediately they arrived the Harare International Airport on Tuesday, August 23.

Lawyer for Bishop Obinim, Mr Samuel Atta Akyea, said that his client has denied defrauding the complainant in question by false pretense as alleged against him. Mr Obinim was reported to the CID by the complainant, who parted with the said amount to the man of God for spiritual assistance but to no avail, hence his arrest.

Tema: Controversial ‘Angel of God’ declared as a crime suspect – Police

Founder and leader of the International Godsway Church, controversial ‘Angel of God’ Bishop Daniel Obinim has been declared as a crime suspect by the Tema Regional Police. This was after Bishop Obinim responded to an invitation sent to him by the Tema Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).

Lagos: Mayowa Ahmed passes away in South African hospital

Ahmed Mayowa, an ovarian cancer patient, has been reported dead. Mayowa died on Sunday at an undisclosed hospital in South Africa where she was receiving treatment. One of her relations, Asiwaju Foye, broke the news of her death.

Atigah Koame Agbessi, a 25-year-old pupil teacher, has been arrested by the Akatsi Police in the Volta region for allegedly murdering a 5-year-old boy in the area. Donation of outboard motors by President John Mahama to fishermen in the Western Region has been described as an abuse of incumbency by Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency. The President Mahama who was in the region for a four-day visit, donated some outboard motors to fishermen in Axim ahead of the polls in December.
