Here Comes Hearts' New Japanese Coach

Kenichi Yatsuhashi
Accra Hearts of Oak’s newly-appointed manager Kenichi Yatsuhashi has come under intense criticism from every quarter of the football family even before he takes full charge of the club. His critics have questioned whether he is capable of leading a great club like Hearts of Oak; a powerhouse in Ghana and African football in the 2000s. Some have even gone to the extent of questioning his credentials vis-à-vis that of his predecessor Eddie Ansah, whose qualification seems to be higher than the Japanese-American trainer’s. However, the 46-year-old coach who is in the country and has signed a three-year contract with the Phobians, said his works will speak for him. Responding to those who are questioning his credentials, he said in an interview, “My works will speak for me. I can’t promise and tell you what I can bring to the table for now, but the ground will determine when the real work starts.” Yatsuhashi, who arrived in the country barely a week ago, has met with the club’s management and would be introduced to the playing body in the next few days. He would be entitled to a $1,700 monthly salary, a vehicle and a plush accommodation.
