Patience Kubey, an 18-year-old lady met her untimely death at Nyamebekyere near Koforidua in the Eastern region, when a speeding vehicle hit her. According to reports, Patience was standing on the pedestrian walkway waiting to cross the road when a Toyota Corolla sped off the road and hit her, killing her on the spot. The Eastern Regional MTTD Commander, Superintendent Ernest Larbie, said the driver, Andy Mensah from Accra upon interrogation said he was late for a funeral in the town. Supt. Larbie noted that the remorseful driver sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The MTTD Commander added that the distraught parents of the young girl remain tight-lipped on the matter until investigation is concluded. Meanwhile, the body of the decease has since been deposited at the Koforidua Central Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
