A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Karl Arhin, has stepped aside a steering committee set up by the Electoral Commission (EC) to deepen the credibility of the November 7 general elections.
The act by the NDC deputy international relations director was confirmed by the Party’s Deputy General Secretary, George Lawson. Arhin’s stepping aside comes in the wake of accusations from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which believes the EC is appointing NDC members on the team.
Dr Karl Arhin The NPP has demanded the immediate dissolution of the EC’s steering committee inaugurated last week.
The 18-member committee is chaired by EC boss, Charlotte Osei and has members from various state institutions including the prisons service and the Ghana Police Service. Meanwhile, campaign manager of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu is believed to have said that the committee is “bogus.’’
