Accra: FM Staff Assaults Wife

Edward Kojo Asare, a 42-year-old marketing executive of Accra-based Kasapa FM has been accused of assaulting his wife, Laudina Asamoah Asare, 33, whom he has been married to for the past nine years with three children.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE on Friday, a source close to the couple claimed that the woman had been severally abused by Kojo Asare. Cataloging a series of alleged abuses meted out to Laudina by Edward, the source stated that two years ago, the accused punched the nose of his wife, leading to a surgical operation at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

 According to the source, in June last year, the Kasapa FM staff, who is also a pastor of a charismatic church in Dome, a suburb of Accra, dragged Laudina who was naked, on gravel in their residence without any provocation.

The source further told the paper that the victim was recently assaulted with a pestle and a belt. . Laudina has declined to comment on the issue, except to stress that it is a personal issue she would not want to discuss.

When contacted for comments, Mary Ohenewaah Afful, a human rights advocate and lawyer expected to represent the victim in court today, declined to speak to the issues, confirming that Laudina is her client and would be representing her for the legal battle.

When contacted, Edward flatly denied assaulting Laudina and admitted having some issues in his marriage. He claimed that he had left the matrimonial home for peace to prevail but debunked the assertion that he left without leaving money for the upkeep of the children. The Kasapa FM marketer accused his wife of disrespecting him and infidelity, a claim Laudina has also denied.
