Atebubu: Police arrest suspected armed robber in shooting of police officer

The Atebubu Police Command has arrested one of the suspected armed robbers involved in the shooting of the police officer at Atebubu-Kwame Danso in the Brong Ahafo Region, less than a week after the killing of police constable Frank Klu. The suspect, Sahama Zacky, 34, alias Malam Zacky, was reportedly arrested on Sunday in his self-contained house upon police intelligence at 2 a.m. Items such as 20 rounds of ammunition, international currencies, 2 single-barrel guns, mobile phones, and a new machete all packed in a black brief case were retrieved from his room. Sahama Zacky, is currently held by the Kwame Danso police where he is assisting with investigations which is expected to result in the arrest of his accomplices.

The police are currently on a manhunt for the other robbers. On June 7, Constable Frank Klu was killed by some armed robbers at Kwame Danso in the Sene district of the Brong Ahafo region. He was escorting some market women from Kwame Danso to Atebubu when he was shot during a robbery on the Kumasi-Sunyani highway.
