Just four months after they got married, 34-year-old former England and Manchester United footballer Alan Smith has split with his X-Factor dancer Kristina Macmillan, 29. They got married in a glitzy vintage-themed ceremony at a castle in Cheshire in June. The nuptials were even featured in a glossy magazine with the bride
wearing a designer gown and heels. But now it has emerged that just four months on from their big day, the couple have decided to split with possible divorce proceedings looking complicated due to the footballer's 'considerable wealth'. 'It was a stunning day, everything you would expect from a celebrity wedding, and they had both been looking forward to it so much, but a couple of months later word went around among their friends that they had decided to split up. 'Now it looks like there isn’t going to be any chance to save things. Apparently they are already talking about divorce.' However, a spokesman for the couple said they were keen to avoid speculation on private issues and would be making no further comment.' The dancer and the footballer, who now plays for Notts County, met in 2007 when Miss Macmillan took part in a photoshoot with the England football team. The pair were friends for years before finally becoming a couple. They married at Peckforton Castle and said personalized vows, which they had written themselves. Mr Smith played 19 games for England during his career and also had stints at Leeds United and Newcastle United. In 2011, it was reported that Miss Macmillan was dating singer Peter Andre and she was tweeting pictures of the pair looking cosy .
